Title: Just downloaded Update 1.09 for Uncharted 2 – what changed? 🤔
Hey everyone,
I was digging through my old PS3 library today and noticed that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves prompted me to download Update 1.09. uncharted 2 update 1.09 download
I went ahead and installed it (roughly 15–20 MB if I remember right), but I couldn’t find any official patch notes from Naughty Dog. The game still runs smoothly, multiplayer lobbies seem quiet (as expected these days), and I didn’t notice any obvious graphical or gameplay tweaks.
From what I recall:
- Most likely: It’s a multiplayer compatibility update (especially since the online portion was kept alive by fans for a while after official servers slowed down).
- Possibly: Minor bug fixes for the single-player campaign – though 1.07 and 1.08 already addressed most major issues.
- Rumor back in the day: Some players claimed it adjusted trophy sync or LAN mode stability.
Has anyone else downloaded 1.09 recently?
Does it add anything noticeable, or is it purely a backend/server patch?
Also – if you still play Uncharted 2 on PS3, let me know. Would be fun to try co-op or a few rounds of Plunder for old times’ sake. 🔫🏺 Title: Just downloaded Update 1
Cheers

Trophy & Progression Fixes
- Critical: Patched the “Bare-Knuckle Expert” trophy glitch (previously, the trophy would not register if you died after a melee chain).
- Fixed “Charted! – Hard” not unlocking for players who completed the final chapter via Chapter Select rather than a continuous playthrough.
- Synchronization trophies with PSN now retry 3 times before failing, reducing the “Trophy data could not be loaded” error.
Archive and preservation notes
- If you’re collecting patches for historical or preservation reasons, document file checksums, timestamps, and source URLs.
- Share archives within reputable preservation communities to reduce distribution of unsafe copies.
Multiplayer Adjustments (Essential for the time)
- Rebalanced the “Glass Jaw” booster (reduced effectiveness to prevent one-hit-melee domination).
- Fixed an exploit on the “Sanctuary” map where players could clip into the statue base.
- Note: This update did not add new content (no maps, no skins). It was purely a stability and bug-fix release.

Naughty Dog was notoriously detailed with their patch notes. While full internal changelogs have been lost to time, community data-mining and developer posts from 2011 have reconstructed the contents of Version 1.09. Here is what the update includes:
General Stability
- Fixed a rare crash that occurred when transitioning from single-player to the multiplayer menu.
- Resolved texture streaming issues on the “Borneo” chapter (Chapter 5 – The Dig).
- Improved save-game corruption prevention when using PS3’s “Quit Game” feature during auto-save.
