Lineage II: Freya — Server Pack Overview and Setup Guide
🛠️ Requirements:
- Java 8 or 11 (JDK)
- MySQL 5.7+ / MariaDB 10+
- 2–4 GB RAM recommended
- Windows / Linux (tested on both)
5. Geodata & Pathfinding Revamp
The new packs compile L2J GeoRev v10+ data, meaning no more mobs running through walls or arrows missing due to terrain bugs. Pathfinding is now on par with official Lineage 2.
2. L2jMobius (The Community Standard)
Mobius has become the "gold standard" for open-source L2J development recently. While they are famous for their Classic and Interlude chronicles, their High Five (Freya successor) branch is robust.
- Pros:
- Open Source: The code is available on GitHub. This means if the main developer quits, the community can keep the pack alive.
- Stability: These packs are notoriously stable. They don't crash often and handle memory leaks better than most.
- Documentation: Because so many people use it, there are endless guides and fixes available on forums (MaxCheaters, L2j Forums).
- Cons:
- "Vanilla" Feel: It leans heavily towards retail (official) behavior. If you want a custom server with custom weapons/armor coded in, you will have to do the coding yourself.
- Less "Flashy": It lacks some of the out-of-the-box visual bells and whistles that Sunrise has.
